Each week I will feature one outstanding beer currently available in our market. This week the honor goes to our own Great Lakes Brewing Company’s Doppelrock. This Doppelbock’s color is deep brown, much lighter around the edges, with amber hues throughout when held up to the light. Pours results in a two finger head with moderate retention, though it produces some incredible delicate and cobwebbed lacing. Just gorgeous. The bouquet is full of rich caramel and chocolate. The flavor adds some roasty coffee-like notes and a earthy hop character to the caramel and chocolate, bringing out a more well-rounded feeling that I got from the nose. The body is creamy and full. A four pack should run about $10 and it’s available just about any where in the Cleveland area.
